Philip Obaji Jr, The Future Awards Africa Young Person Of The Year Winner, 2015 Attends The International Human Rights Training Program In Canada.
Philip Obaji Jr winner of The Future awards Africa was among the participants at the 37th International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) which held from June 5 – 24, 2016 in Montreal, Canada.
The IHRTP was designed to build capacity within participants to undertake more effective human rights education. The emphasis throughout the Program is on critical analysis, reflection, and practical application leading to the development of strategies for future action.
“It was a great experience interacting with other participants from various countries, learning to provide Human Rights Education (HRE) to my immediate community and beyond,” said Mr Obaji.
“The goal of the program is to improve commitment to human rights work, collaborate with other organizations involved in HRE, and better understand human rights based approach to solving problems,” he added.
Mr Obaji is the winner of The Future Awards Africa 2015 in the category of Young Person of the Year. He has implemented innovative strategies to help Almajiri children in violence-torn northern Nigeria deal with abuse and neglect.
The Future Awards Africa Young Person of the Year 2015 Category was endowed by The Canadian High Commission, Nigeria.
